History

The origins of Château Léoville-Las-Cases go back to the early 17th century, when the estate formed part of a vast property known as Château Léoville. This extensive holding encompassed what would later become three celebrated châteaux: Léoville-Las-Cases, Léoville-Poyferré and Léoville-Barton. In 1840 the estate was divided, and the Las-Cases branch inherited the northern portion of the original Léoville territory, which borders the celebrated Château Latour in Pauillac. This position, directly alongside a Premier Cru Classé, partly explains the exceptional quality and power of the wines of Léoville-Las-Cases.

The Delon family: heritage and vision

Since the mid-20th century the château has been in the hands of the Delon family, who have led the estate with extraordinary dedication and precision.
