Haut Medoc Wines

Haut Medoc wine region

Solid Bordeaux from a Classic Region

South of the Médoc, on Bordeaux's Left Bank, lies the Haut-Médoc appellation. This expansive wine region is known for its reliable red wines with a characteristic Bordeaux profile: notes of blackcurrant, plum, cigar, and oak. The wines are robust, rich in flavor, and often have excellent aging potential.

Within the Haut-Médoc lie the communal appellations of Margaux, Listrac-Médoc, and Moulis-en-Médoc. While Margaux is internationally renowned, Listrac and Moulis are popular for their often attractive price-quality ratio. In Listrac, Merlot plays a more prominent role, resulting in supple and fruity wines. Although these communes do not have classified Grand Crus, you will find excellent Cru Bourgeois wines here.

The soil, which includes limestone, contributes to the structure and complexity of the wines. Thanks to this combination of terroir, tradition, and grape selection (such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot), Haut-Médoc is a trusted choice for lovers of classic Bordeaux.
